Civil Code!

+ this blog is run by emrys (they/them). twenty y/o, mixed white + japanese lesbian- sansei. no art posted here is mine unless i specify otherwise. if you see me using a psd it's this one. ask for my discord anytime!i. no bigotry, no proshippers. that includes incest and underage ships-- i will block on sight. you know the deal. also, no one under 18 - just to be safe. i will not rp nsfw on the dash.ii. this blog is selective, meaning i only interact with mutuals. however, i have a tendency to quietly unfollow people if they post something that bugs me and come back a few days later -- if you notice i've unfollowed you, you're welcome to ask why, and you're still welcome to interact. i'll come around.**iii. i am anti-military and anti-police. **i will also not interact with anyone who plays hydra characters. i will probably not interact with any iterations of carol danvers.iv. no metagaming / godmodding. i should talk briefly about jen's powerset here: the vast majority of characters that exist would lose to jen in a straight-up fight. she isn't easily provoked, and there are definitely ways to get one over on her if you character does end up in a physical fight with her-- but try not to be unpleasantly surprised if she isn't bothered by attacks, and please keep her ultra-heavyweight class in mind if she interacts physically with your character in general.v. i am multi-fandom friendly. jen is heavily influenced by her world (specifically, by the hulk) so interactions with characters from vastly different worlds may take some finagling (or some lampshading + cheap silly tricks) to get going in a way that makes sense. dc crossovers are super easy though. feel free to check out my verses, or tell me about your marvel verse.vi. i am HEAVILY CRITICAL of marvel, both 616/ the comics and the mcu. this blog has no affiliation with the mcu, and no i am not excited for the she-hulk disney+ show to come out. there are a lot of things i will ignore or change because i think they're bad writing or bad for humanity. for the most part i'll be relying on john byrne's sensational she-hulk (which had a lot of issues with race and gender, that i am aware and critical of -- i mostly reference it for narrative tone, rather than its plots other than to die and live in la), soleil's she-hulk, and tamaki's hulk. i also accept greg pak's features of jen in totally awesome hulk and world war hulk, plus some ensemble stuff-- mostly classic avengers and f4. i do not accept jen's involvement in civil war ii, i think it's antithetical to her entire narrative. i do not keep up with or accept current runs, especially immortal (she)hulk. i do not accept anything dan slott has ever done except to make fun of it. i accept macduffie's she-hulk: ceremony, although i'm not likely to get into its plot/themes aside from acknowledging jen and wyatt's previous engagement, because it deals in indigenous issues in ways i'm not qualified to judge or represent.vii. as far as shipping, i'm open to it. jen has a history of being open in her canon relationships, so i don't really mind whether you perceive each ship as its own singularity or what. she loves people and she loves being with people and she loves love. as usual i have my own favorites (hello patsy walker), but i ship based on chemistry for rp purposes. i'm also happy to accept any canon romantic or sexual history between our characters, as history for my muse, although i may have my own opinions about how exactly it should've gone down-- and please don't assume they're still an item. this includes tony stark, luke cage, hercules, thor, etc.viii. jen canonically has meta-awareness. i may implement this any number of ways in my writing, but when i do i'll have her think of herself as a comic book character and not a tumblr rp blog. i know this is uncomfortable or hard to work with for some people, so let me know if you want me to tone it down in our interactions. i prommy i'll only ever use it for a gag, and jen won't try to explain to your character that they're from a comic book or whatever, or bring it up in a way that stilts the scene.ix. i match length (vaguely) and don't (generally) use icons.+ REGARDING WYATT WINGFOOT: jen loves wyatt; she will talk about how much she loves wyatt; wyatt is her favorite guy. however, i'm well aware of the racism involved in how he's presented in canon. for this reason, i WILL NOT accept anyone writing wyatt who is not themself indigenous, under any circumstances.+ regarding bruce banner: jen's relationship with bruce is obviously the one that has had the most effect on who she is now. because of this i will probably be selective about which portrayals (if any) of bruce banner i interact with. i love talking about my thoughts on their relationship and i'll probably do so a lot; feel free to reach out if you play bruce and we can see if we're compatible.
JOURNEY into MASTER'S DEGREE:
introducing... the honorable jen walters!
"She-Hulk" redirects here.Jennifer "Jen" Elaine Walters (born October 4, 1984), also known as "She-Hulk," is an American superhero and celebrity lawyer, and the paternal cousin of nuclear physicist Dr. Robert Banner. She is a registered attorney in the state of New York, with an expired certification in the state of California. She specializes as a civil and criminal defense attorney, and is a major figure in the emerging field of metahuman law. Some of her career accomplishments include a not-liable finding in a 2017 wrongful death suit against her client Steve Rogers; Robert Banner's 2010 total acquittal from numerous felony charges including forty-seven manslaughter allegations; and the successful negotiation of a personal settlement from Tony Stark (figure undisclosed, but estimated in the tens of millions) when she represented a plaintiff against him in an intellectual property suit. She also executed the last will and testament of noted mutant Charles Xavier. She rose to prominence and is most widely known for her alter-ego of the She-Hulk, a human gamma mutate with superhuman strength. In the form of the She-Hulk, she has been a member of several high-profile superhero teams such as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. She made her acting debut as Nurse Jennifer Emerald in the 2015 live charity special of the soap opera Heartbreak Hotel.Walters has been at the center of some political controversies. Her proponents have noted her social advocacy, including her pro-bono work defending abortion clinics and affordable housing in the Brooklyn area, while her critics note that she has destroyed more property than she has won rent control for. Considered a modern sex symbol, the value of the example she sets for children, especially young girls, is also a subject of debate.
Early life
Walters was born at L.A. County General Hospital in 1984, to parents Elaine Walters (nee Banner) and Morris Walters. She is a single child. Her father, a Nisei, is an LA County sheriff. She had a normal childhood, although her family was affected by the erratic and often violent behavior of her maternal uncle, Brian Banner. Walters in turn developed a close relationship with Robert Bruce Banner, Brian's son and her maternal cousin, coming to view him as a younger brother. The young Banner and Walters spent several summers and holidays together, and according to Banner, would occasionally sneak into the city library after closing and stay the night, said to be some of Banner's most positive childhood memories. In 1994, the family was rocked by Brian's imprisonment following his murder of his wife, Rebecca, and attempted murder of their son. Brian and Elaine's other sister, Susan, was awarded custody of Bruce. Walters cites The People of Virginia v. Brian Banner as a formative exposure to the legal system. From a young age, Walters practiced ballet, and by her teenage years she was on track to attend a ballet academy after high school. However, in 1999, Elaine Walters was fatally struck by a drunk driver on her way to one of her daughter's ballet recitals. Jennifer quit ballet shortly after. Morris Walters withdrew from his family after his wife's death and refused to set foot in the family home, leaving Walters to raise herself.
Academics and early career
Walters received a partial scholarship to attend UCLA, where her sorority sisters described her as meek and studious. Shortly after she started college, her troubled cousin was taken into military custody after he made a series of credible bomb threats against his high school, and was given the opportunity to study nuclear physics at Harvard. While Banner, a budding supergenius, graduated with a doctorate at 20, Walters took a more traditional route. She graduated UCLA's school of law magna cum laude in 2009 and started work as a city prosecutor.
Shooting and aftermath
Main article: Human gamma mutatesIn November of 2009, Walters was visited by Banner for the first time since her graduation. He had been missing for several months; Walters didn't know it, but a weapons testing accident at the military research facility where Banner worked had resulted in his transformation into the creature known as the Hulk. He had since been hunted by the U.S. military under the command of General Thaddeus Ross, and went to his cousin seeking refuge. Instead, he arrived to find that Walters had been shot multiple times by members of an organized crime syndicate which her office had been investigating, causing catastrophic bleeding. Seeing that his cousin needed a blood transfusion immediately or she would die, he gave her a transfusion of his own blood, which unbeknownst to him carried the gamma-radiation and DNA mutation responsible for his condition.Walters made a full recovery. However, she soon found herself transforming into a creature similar to the Hulk, quickly dubbed the She-Hulk. But where the Hulk was defined by uncontrollable rage, and Banner found his condition intolerable, Walters described herself in her She-Hulk form as feeling better than ever. She reported feeling more confidence, which sometimes displayed in the form of impulsive behavior. Like Banner, Walters' transformation was triggered by stress or anger, which Walters had always repressed; she found that it felt good to make herself seen and heard. Unfortunately, she was seen and heard by the LAPD, and her father, still a sheriff, became hell-bent on killing the She-Hulk (whose identity as Walters was then a secret).Following multiple confrontations with the police, Walters eventually saved her father's life from an external threat and revealed her identity to him. He begrudgingly accepted her, and Walters decided to move east to escape the warrant for her arrest and live her life fully as the She-Hulk, the form she felt best represented her.
Work as the She-Hulk
After leaving LA, Walters relocated to New York City and soon joined the Avengers on the recommendation of Tony Stark, with whom she had stopped Roxxon Oil's criminal conspiracy in California. She quickly made friends with the other Avengers. Monica Rambeaux, who taught Walters how to pilot aircraft, described her as remarkable not only for her strength, but for her sharp mind and friendly, upbeat demeanor. Walters was also particularly close to Janet van Dyne, who saw Walters' unique proportions as an exciting challenge for her clothing design. After Walters left the Avengers, she was adopted into the Fantastic Four for some time thanks to Ben Grimm, a longtime friend and rival of the Hulk. Walters claimed the more tight-knit familial dynamic of the Four worked better for her than the social politics of the Avengers. During her work with the Four, she began a romantic relationship with Wyatt Wingfoot, Johnny Storm's best friend and a non-powered ally of the Fantastic Four. Walters and Wingfoot's relationship ended amicably and rekindled several times over the next few years, including an aborted marriage engagement in 2015, always ending with the conclusion that their lifestyles were incompatible. She also eventually left the Fantastic Four, but returned intermittently as needed; similarly, she has been an off-and-on member of the Avengers and several other superhero teams ever since.
Legal career
When Walters left the Fantastic Four, van Dyne provided her housing in the penthouse of an apartment building she owned. This was where she decided to return to her work as a lawyer, and began the process of becoming a registered attorney in the state of New York. She worked for several major law firms in the city, until one firm in 2016 reportedly expressed that they had only hired her under the assumption that she would use her celebrity status to bring in high-profile clients. Walters immediately quit and opened her own practice with an office in Ideahive, Inc., an Brooklyn workspace run by and for mutants and other metahumans. Here she worked closely with Patsy Walker, Hellcat, whom she had met when Walker was a member of the West Coast Avengers, and who would become her best friend for life.Walters' prolific career has involved a few high-profile cases, but most of her work is with clients who would not feel safe seeking help anywhere else. Walters provides personal protection to her clients when necessary. Notably, she was also the executor of Charles Xavier's will, but is not her cousin's personal attorney; Banner's legal representation is through the office of Nelson and Murdock, defense attorneys who Walters has been known to work closely with in the past.
Death and aftermath
At the outbreak of hostilities in the Skrull quasi-invasion of Earth under Emperor Dorrek-Vell, Walters was killed. When she woke up, it was to the news that her cousin had been killed by Clint "Hawkeye" Barton. Walters went home unable to shift into the She-Hulk, and suffering from severe anxiety and post-traumatic stress.Walters' history of becoming stronger and occasionally malicious in episodes of 'losing control' caught up with her here. Although she couldn't take on her preferred form, her episodes and panic attacks would turn her into a new, uncontrollable, and truly monstrous form known as Grey She-Hulk. Eventually, with the support of Walker and intense recovery work, Walters was able to manage her symptoms and regain the confidence she needed to become the "Sensational" She-Hulk again. The threat of the Grey She-Hulk still exists, however, as she still transforms into it at times when she experiences abject fear or suffers otherwise-fatal injuries. Banner has since recovered.

a different beast!

HEADCANONS ( main verse . )+ jen is a trans woman. most hulk narratives have extremely transgender themes and i'm not just gonna pretend it isn't there. she chose to fully medically transition in her early 20's.
+ jen has a complicated relationship with her dad and the law. jen and morris's relationship is treated as positive and uncomplicated in canon even though morris's canon behavior is anything but. from telling her he loves her for the first time when she's 25 to calling her a freak behind her back & disapproving of her "lifestyle" as the she-hulk (all canon) , i just do not like that guy. my jen doesn't feel positively towards him.
+ jen is two years older than bruce and they have a close, sibling-like relationship; she protected him as much as possible when they were children, but they still bully each other. she's always been determined to make sure that bruce is not alone, and sharing his condition is natural to her. she has never resented him.
+ jen is a very forgiving person -- or more accurately, she doesn't hold grudges. the past is the past, and she doesn't have to agree with her friends.
+ bruce, patsy, and wyatt all have a pretty good shot at calming her down if she's on a rampage just by being around her and being ok. otherwise if you want to try it, you need to be someone she trusts who isn't actively making her mad, and be pretty good at talking people down in vulnerable moments. when she goes off the deep end she's basically a wounded animal.
+ i like playing with the idea of grey she-hulk as undead, so consider that my replacement for any immortal (she)hulk plots. basically i've put her death in empyre in place of her injury in civil war ii, so she-hulk: deconstructed comes after empyre and civil war ii never happened (or she was dead during it).
CROSSOVER VERSES

+ Resident Evil: bruce banner was recruited into the u.s. military's secret bioweapons research program to study the possibility of making t-virus hosts more weaponizable via radiation. an accident in the lab turned him into the project's only test subject, a brand new kind of b.o.w. capable of reverting to his human form and reactivating when necessary. hunted, bruce turned to jen, and a blood transfusion spread his condition to her. unlike him, she is almost completely in control of herself in her hulk form, making her even more of an ideal specimen for bioweapons syndicates to replicate.
when t-veronica infection interacted with her irradiated blood, a more dangerous side of jen emerged: grey she-hulk, which jen mutates into if her body takes catastrophic damage. jen tries to maintain her human life and career in law despite her condition and the powers seeking her out; the she-hulk only emerges from radio silence to strike at bioweapons dealers.
+ Star Wars: wip.

+ Fallout: New Vegas: i'm gonna write this later but you get the idea. new kind of super mutant dropped.
